Nu Developments is a building company working across Harrogate and North Yorkshire: new builds, extensions, renovations and alterations, loft and basement conversions, and all types of stonework, traditional and contemporary — including restoration and hard landscaping.
Restoring the past and building the future
That line is our own, and it is meant literally rather than as a slogan. In the same portfolio you will find a stone cottage that had lost its roof, its windows and its floors, returned to a home with sash windows and a green front door — and a contemporary house of render, cedar and structural glazing built from the ground up on a wooded slope. Old buildings and new buildings need different instincts but the same standards, and we take on both.
One company for the whole project
We offer a comprehensive service: design input, a realistic programme and full project management alongside the building work itself. We would rather engage early — while the drawings can still change cheaply — than be handed a finished design with a problem baked into it. Where a project already has an architect and a structural engineer we work to their information and flag buildability issues before they cost anyone money.

Old and new, by the same hands
Traditional stonework and contemporary construction are both core to what we do, which is why a derelict cottage shell and a full-glazing new build can sit side by side in the same portfolio.
Design and project management included
We can engage early, work with your architect and engineer, produce a realistic programme and manage the trades — so you are not the one chasing the build.
We work alongside your own architect, structural engineer and chosen suppliers where a project already has them — and can bring in the design input where it doesn't.

Three things we would want you to judge us on.
Stone is not decoration
Most of our portfolio is stone, and stone shows up every shortcut in the coursing, the bed height and the pointing. Traditional and contemporary stonework — walling, dressings, repointing, restoration and hard landscaping — is a discipline we take on in its own right.
Engaged early, not late
Our design and project management service exists because the expensive problems are created before anyone is on site. We would rather sit down over the drawings and produce a programme that survives contact with a real site.

Every project image on this site is a building we built, from our own Google Business Profile. No stock photographs of somebody else's houses, and no borrowed portfolio.
The best argument we have

It is our own line rather than anybody else's verdict — so judge it against the work. A roofless stone shell returned to a home, and a contemporary house of render, cedar and glass built from the ground up, are both in the same gallery.
