Nu Developments is a building company working on homes across Harrogate and North Yorkshire. We take on new builds, extensions, renovations and alterations, loft and basement conversions, and all types of stonework — traditional and contemporary, including restoration and hard landscaping.
Where a project needs it, we come in early: design input, a realistic programme and full project management, working alongside your architect and structural engineer. That means one company answerable for the build, one programme to keep to, and one number to ring when you want to know where things stand.
Restoring the past
A roofless stone shell, and the same elevation as a home again.
Walls standing, roof gone, one ragged window opening, the inside knee-deep in rubble — and then the same wall with its stone-slate roof reinstated, painted sash windows in re-dressed stone surrounds and a green front door under a lantern. Keeping the original stone, rebuilding what is lost to the existing coursing and repointing in an appropriate mortar is slower than replacing an elevation. It is also the only version worth doing.

Traditional stonework and contemporary construction are both core to what we do, which is why a derelict cottage shell and a full-glazing new build can sit side by side in the same portfolio.

A site visit and a straight answer
We come out, look at the property properly, and tell you what it will take — what the structure allows, what will need consent, and what we would do differently. No charge for the visit.

Design input and a realistic programme
We engage early, work with your architect and engineer where there is one, and produce a programme you can actually plan around — sequence, lead times and the decisions you will need to make, and when.

The build, managed
Groundworks, structure, stonework, roof, glazing and the trades that follow, run in the right order by one company. You get progress updates rather than having to chase them.

Snagged, checked, handed over
Nothing is called finished until the detail is right — the pointing, the reveals, the thresholds, the paving falls. Then we walk the job with you before we hand it over.

We don't publish a list of towns we will and won't travel to: tell us where the property is and what you are planning, and we will tell you straight away whether it is one for us.
